We've opted to use Extira for our cabinets. What is Extira and why do we use it?
It is a substrate used like plywood or fiber board and can be laminated as well. Extira is a different product with a warranty against moisture, rotting and termites. Used often on the outside because of its water, bug and rot resistant properties.
We use Extira usually on bases of cabinets and counter tops where there will be a sink just in case of a leak. It’s also been used in low lying areas where bad weather can flood areas – In the event of long term water exposure there can be failure to any wood product it’s just a very good first defense with floors being mopped up and maybe some light water damage to the space.
We've received KCMA certification for our cabinets. This certification ensures that our cabinets are built to resist the warping that is the result of prolonged exposure to liquids.
